Davao Oriental economy is heavily based on agriculture, which plays a vital role in the economic prosperity of the people. The need to reinvigorate the agricultural sector is more urgent today. Productivity has been stagnated, while population has continued to put pressure in the agricultural productivity which is the main cause of poverty among our rural farming sector.

The dawning of the new millennium brings with it a lot of economic and environmental challenges and opportunities ...the challenges that need to be confronted with urgency and, the consequent opportunities to be tapped and explored.
A vital challenge is crucial at this point – that of addressing food sufficiency - given the increasing population, the highly volatile climate due to global warming and shifting priorities. But such challenge also offers vast potential - to expand food production areas, heal our environment, maximize the use of resources, and enhance productivity, among others. Exploring these opportunities would also mean generating investments, creating more entrepreneurs and job opportunities, increasing income, and, reducing poverty...
